FAQs

  • The benefits of therapy can vary and depend greatly on your commitment and engagement in the process. When difficult emotions, negative thoughts, or problematic behaviors start to interfere with your daily life, therapy can help. This might not always be obvious to those around you. Therapy can help to reduce the sense of overwhelm of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Therapy is a collaborative process guided by your goals with the support of a compassionate, empathetic, and knowledgeable therapist. Goals can be things such as learning better coping skills, changing specific behaviors, building better relationships or processing stress and difficult emotions.

  • If you are interested in gathering more information about the therapeutic process, please call (970.426.5354) for a free 15 minute consultation. During this call, I will gather general information related to what is prompting you to seek counseling, as well as provide some information about me and my services. If there appears to be a good fit and you are interested, we will schedule an initial intake appointment. Otherwise, I am happy to provide you with other potential therapist referrals in our community that may suit your needs more appropriately.

  • The initial session (intake) is a time for us to introduce ourselves and begin to establish the relationship which will be the foundation of our work together. The intake session includes sharing your story, what has led you to seek therapy, your primary concerns, and a thorough review of your history. We will clarify and begin to develop measurable goals, which will be reviewed regularly throughout our time together. We will review paperwork and I will answer any question you may have regarding the process.

  • My rate for a 50 minute session is $125. Payment is required at the start of each session. Cash or check are accepted. 30 min and 90 min appointments may be available if needed and appropriate. Fees are pro-rated accordingly. Please see Services & Rates for details.

  • All treatment recommendations are based on the individual, the circumstances, and the presenting concern. How often you present to therapy will be based on your desires as well as my recommendations, however I typically encourage people to engage weekly for at least 4-6 sessions. Following that we will discuss the most appropriate timeframe which will vary from continued weekly to every other week to once a month to “as needed”. I work with clients individually to create a schedule that works best for you and your situation.

The therapeutic process looks different for everyone. I will work with you to clearly identify your treatment needs, review progress and any subsequent goals, and check in regularly to understand your sense of how the process is working for you. Moving on from therapy is a process that we will engage in together, at your own pace.

  • A typical counseling session lasts 50 minutes (sometimes a bit shorter, sometimes a bit longer) and allows time for a brief check in as well as time to “do the work”. The work will vary based on presenting need and goals, though will often include some psycho-education and skill building, as well as verbal processing, supportive reflection, feedback, and mindfulness practice. The session will often end with a plan for at home practice prior to the following session. Future appointments may be booked at the completion of each session.

  • While A Wild Hope Counseling cannot bill directly to your insurance provider, upon request, A Wild Hope Counseling can provide you with the required paperwork to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please note that this does require an official mental health diagnosis. A Wild Hope Counseling cannot however guarantee reimbursement by your provider.

  • Cancellations must be made 24 business hours in advance (i.e if you have a Monday appointment, you must cancel Friday). If you do not show for a scheduled appointment and/or you do not cancel prior to 24 hours in advance for non-emergency reasons, A Wild Hope Counseling reserves the right to charge the full fee for the missed appointment.

If you are more than ten (10) minutes late to your appointment, your appointment will be rescheduled, and you may be charged for the missed appointment. If you choose to keep the appointment at that time, it will end at the regularly scheduled time and the fee will remain the same.

Appointments will be scheduled on a first come/first serve basis, except for emergencies.
